WINTER TO DO LIST:
Besides the obvious things like bringing in the hoses, keeping the leaves picked up and adding fuel stabilizer to the gas tanks...it's the best time to reflect on the past year and make goals for 2017.
2016 was an emotional year for me. My kids aren't kids anymore. They both live and appear to be settled in Kansas City which is good and bad. My son got engaged and will be married next May, so I'll be gaining a daughter-in-law. Seeing them move on is yet another reminder that at 54, I'm entering the 3rd period of my hockey life analogy. I'm working out regularly (Complete Fitness Results in Webster) and have hired a "nutritionist" (Rhoshundra Thornton) to help me with my goal weight of 210. (currently at 236). It's interesting to learn about "good fats and sugars" versus bad ones. I never meet a bad sugar in my life up until a month ago! Bacon is now a condiment instead of meal and desserts have to be earned instead feeling like they are entitled to. As Clint Eastwood said..."getting old isn't for sissies".
My goals include to finish reading more self-help and inspirational books like "On Fire" and the latest from Joel Osteen. Get down to the 210 weight goal by May 1. Get my son married while I still have a few hairs on my head and pray more.
I'll visit the Carmelite on Clayton Road once a week for an hour and think about all the good in my life. I'll hope your goals will be reasonable and attainable! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! I'll see you in 2017...God willing!
